《Diamond and Rust 》- Joan Baez 1975
Well I'll be dammed here comes your ghost again
But that's not unusual.
It's just that the moon is full
And you happened to call
And there sit hand on the telephone
Hearing a voice I'd known.
A couple of hight years ago
Heading straight for a fall

As I remeber your eves were bluer than robin's eggs
My poetry was lousy you said
Where are you calling from?
A booth in the midnest
Ten years ago I bought you some cufflinks
You brought me something
We both know what memories can bring
They bring diamonds and rust

Well you burst on the scene aiready a legend
The unwatched phenomenon the original vagabond
You strayed into my arms
And there you stayed temporaely lost at sea
The madona was your's for free
Yes the girl on the half shell
Coulp keep you unharmed

Now I see you stanfing with brown leaves falling all around
And snow in your hair
Now you're smiling out the window of that crummy hotel
Over washingion souare
Our breath comes out white clouds mingles & hangs in the air
Speaking strickly for me, we both coulp've died then and their

Now you're telling me you're not nostalgic
Then gire me another word for it
you who're so good with words and at keeping things vague
Cause I need some of that vagueness now
It's all come back to clearly
Yes I loved you dearly
And if you're offering me diamonds and rust
I've already paid

一首好歌可以啟發另一首好歌,家喻戶曉的《Killing Me Softly With His Song》就是這麼誕生的。

《Killing Me Softly》 - Lori Lieberman 1973
I heard he sang a good song, I heard he had a style
And so, I came to see him to listen for a while.
And there, he was this young boy, a stranger to my eyes.

Strumming my pain with his fingers, singing my life with his words.
Killing me softly with his song, killing me softly with his song.
Telling my whole life with his words, killing me softly with his song.

I felt all flushed with fever, embarrassed by the crowd.
I felt he found my letters and read each one out loud.
I prayed that he would finish, but he just kept right on.

Strumming my pain with his fingers, singing my life with his words.
Killing me softly with his song, killing me softly with his song.
Telling my whole life with his words, killing me softly with his song.

He sang as if he knew me, in all my dark despair.
And then, he looked right through me as if I wasn't there
But he was there, a stranger singing clear and strong.

Strumming my pain with his fingers, singing my life with his words.
Killing me softly with his song, killing me softly with his song.
Telling my whole life with his words, killing me softly with his song.

《Will you still love me tomorrow》 - Carol King 1971
Tonight you're mine completely
You give your love so sweetly
Tonight the light of love is in your eyes
But will you love me tomorrow

Is this a lasting treasure
Or just a moment's pleasure
Can I believe the magic of your sights
will you love me tomorrow

Tonight with words unspoken
You say that I'm the only one
But will my heart be broken
When the night meets the morning sun

I'd like to now that your love
Is a love I can be sure of
So tell me now and I won't ask again
Will you still love me tomorrow
Will you still love me tomorrow
Will you still love me tomorrow
